Hacker

Dr. Marbles, affectionately called "the Doc" by Digit, is a brilliant mechanic who recurrently appears in Cyberchase. He is Motherboard's chief technician, Hacker's creator, Lady Ada Lovelace's girlfriend, and Sleight O'Hand's uncle. He is currently trying to restore Motherboard to her full power. Although Dr. Marbles originally created Hacker as an assistant, he also carried out his banishment. Hacker now antagonizes the doctor as a result, so Marbles works in secret and only occasionally crosses paths with the CyberSquad. Initially considered a main character, Dr. Marbles rarely appears after Season 3. He debuts in the first prequel webisode, "How It All Started: Webisode 1", and the first episode of the Cyberchase television series, "Lost My Marbles".

Physical appearance[]

Dr. Marbles has lavender skin, a blue mustache and eyebrows, yellow eyes, red glasses, and what appears to be a light bulb for the upper part of his head, which flashes red when there is danger nearby[1]. Dr. Marbles wears a light blue jacket with dark blue at the collar and wrists, blue pants, and black boots.

In "The Cyberchase Movie", Dr. Marbles has a long beard in a lighter shade of blue than his mustache.

Personality[]

construction This article or section is incomplete.
Please add information to improve its coverage and accuracy.

Dr. Marbles usually speaks in computer jargon, such as "Backspace!" instead of saying "Hold on!", "Your file is closed!" for "You're finished!", and "We must exit this program!" for "We must leave this place!"

He appears to be organized, but in an unusual manner. As demonstrated in "Cool It", he alphabetizes the contents of his refrigerator.

His favorite book is Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig and his favorite movie is Tron.

Relationships[]

Hacker[]

After Hacker removed the Encryptor Chip from Motherboard, Dr. Marbles had the opportunity to permanently delete him but chose instead to take away his power supply and banish him to the Northern Frontier. Because of this, Hacker needs to regularly recharge himself with his recharger chair. Therefore, it is possible that Hacker hates Dr. Marbles more than anyone else. Some of Hacker's earliest schemes have involved attacking him personally, making him his prisoner, and using him to his advantage such as in "Castleblanca" when he tried to use Marbles' brain power to activate Gigabyte. In "Step by Step", Hacker reminds Dr. Marbles that when he first built him, he gave him brain power equal to his, which is evident as to how Hacker is such a formidable foe towards him. Overall, what started as a seemingly simple relationship, as assumed in the flashback in "A Piece of the Action", has become nothing more than a bitter struggle between creator and creation.

Lady Ada Lovelace[]

Dr. Marbles has a love interest in Lady Ada Lovelace, as shown in "Hugs and Witches".

"The encryptor's modules have trans-morphed into..." Translation: not entirely sure- but it's Dr. Marbles' way of saying he's trying to restore Motherboard to her full power.

Early concept sketches of Dr. Marbles

  • Dr. Marbles has an unknown sibling because he has a nephew: Sleight O'Hand, Cyberspace's most famous pickpocket seen in "The Guilty Party".
  • The name Marbles might be in reference to the Parthenon Marbles which were removed from Greece in the in the early 19th century. This is supported by the fact that several characters with a similar lightbulb styled hat or head appear in Mount Olympus. Additionally, the names Hieronymus and Archimedes, two characters closely associated with Marbles also refer Greek historical figures.
  • He has somewhat of a British accent.
